Great waterside beach vibe. We went here to find a more local restaurant as the grills on Boca Grande are a bit too highbrow for our tastes! I had a fried grouper sandwich with a crunchy breading that kept the fish moist. Fries were well seasoned. Other people in our group had the shrimp basket and the crawfish poor boy - delish! We sat under thatched tiki bar patio facing the marina which was fun to watch the boats coming and going! Great service, too! If you're in the area, check out this place!
I love how you can pull up to this place on boat! This restaurant isn't fancy, but the seafood we had was great. For an appetizer, the gator bites were great. Might even want it as a meal. For those who haven't had it, don't be scared! It's pretty much a pleasant/mild taste of white fish & the texture of chicken! Kids probably would love this too, if you 'forget' to tell them it's gator. For my meal, I really loved the Grouper platter (cajun). Fish was perfectly grilled and fresh, with a good mayo dip. I'm salivating thinking about it. I wanted to post a pic but looked down and my plate was being demolished. (Note: Being a normal-ish customer, I originally was freaking out about eating fish, because the menu said "local" seafood... and red-tide is going on (I didn't know if it could hurt me; I know, I'm silly!) but all of us were fine! Nothing to worry about! I'm hoping this red tide fear doesn't chase away customers from this restaurant... thought it might help management to know. The Manhattan chowder/soup was also pretty healthy and colorful looking; my friend loved it, but I didn't get the chance to try it before it was gone. I totally will next time! Another friend who dislikes seafood, got the burger, which of course I was excited to try as well. However, it was bland, disappointing, dry-ish, and the overall meat wasn't good. I'm so happy I got my fish!! Stick to seafood! (Although, I haven't tried the wings yet for those who dislike seafood, but he/we plan to next time and will report back). (This restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, but we wanted to be outdoors because we just got off the boat and sunset was approaching. While I loved the outdoor netting to keep bugs out, we did get bitten by mosquitos, so make sure you have bug spray, (I'm sure the restaurant has some on hand too).
After a long day on the boat we were ready for some relief from the sun. We docked our boat right next to the restaurant. Very convenient. It's right by Gasparilla Marina. The crab cakes were decent. I have had better, but overall not to mad. The sandwich your way was a frozen grouper that was okay. Living in Florida by the water u often expect a fresh catch, but not here. It was like a 3.5 star. The chicken sandwich was better. Hence the 4. Coleslaw was good with a pineapple tangy taste. Not bad. The bathroom was clean and the restaurant was too. Staff was not overly friendly just there to take your order. I guess if you are wanting a quick bite to rescue you while boating then it's okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to come by car. Giving a 4 , but really it's. 3.5.
Nice casual place to drive to or boat to. Sat outside on the deck for drinks and apps. Saw 3 manatees on the way in, hung out and watched the for a while! The place was super busy, so service was slow, but still friendly!
It's been two years since we have been here and we understand the management has changed. The one thing that brought me in 2 years ago was seeing Manhattan Clam Chowder on the menu. Growing up with grandparents and parents from NY, that was one of the recipes that my grandmother excelled at. The new owner has changed it up a bit. I can't say I saw any clams In this version and the spice level was a bit over the top. But, it was good. Kick back the spice add clams and a touch of thyme and you will nail it. I still enjoyed it even though my lips were on fire lol. The French Dip was very good as well as the Fish and Chips. All in all a very good experience. Clean, friendly and reasonable.
